“Book Descriptions: Set in the 1980s, it revolves around two young Kashmiri friends of different faiths, Nishant and Mudassir, whose lives change completely after the forced exodus of Hindus from the valley in January 1990.

The book traverses through the journeys of these two best friends after that fateful January night. While Nishant is relegated to the life of a refugee in a camp in Jammu, Mudassir becomes a terrorist.

Nishant gets himself out of the misery through education and reaches the US while Mudassir lands in Pakistan. Yet through all their trials and tribulations both have not been able to take each other out of their minds.

Why did Mudassir have to go to Pakistan? And how Nishant reacts when he comes to know of his friend’s fate is what unfolds in the novel while taking the reader through their individual tragedies, turmoil and heartaches.

Childhood bonds are the strongest and this tale reinforces that.

Does friendship have a political colour or does it have its own language is what The Jehlum Boys endeavours to retell? It is important for such human interest stories to throw a better perspective on how normal people react to relationships in their own lives.”
