Early in 2022, I restructured and re-released the first five novellas in the Lucas Rathbone Mysteries as one full-length novel, called The Problem With Dead People.
The stories were all linked anyway, and it's a much better reader experience to have them all in one continuous story with five chunky chapters, rather than split into five separate books.
As a result, the novellas are no longer available on theirown, and a new-and-improved versions now forms the five sections in The Problem With Dead People
Thank you,
Saffron Amatti
The problem with dead people is that sometimes, they just can't let their problems go.
That's where Lucas Rathbone comes in... Unfortunately.
Usually, the spirits he wishes he couldn't see aren't so bad - but usually, they're not claiming to have been murdered by the gang of cut-throat criminals who have been terrorising London for decades.
He should walk away...
But there's this girl, see, and things haven't always been smooth sailing between them, and - well, he thinks doing something dangerous might impress her.
Not the best decision he's ever made, especially now both he and the woman he adores are now on the gang's hit list.
So he might have misjudged it slightly, and the death threats certainly aren't his idea of fun - but who hasn't made a fool of themselves in the name of love?
And he and Clara will work out how to get the murderous gangsters off their backs.
Probably.
Admittedly, this would be easier without a steady stream of spooks demanding his help.
And if Clara's lovesick colleague would stop following her around like a lost puppy
And if Lucas could get just five minutes alone with her without overprotective brothers and gossipy mothers poking their noses in...
But everyone has their problems, don't they?
Although this time, Lucas's problem with dead people might just get him killed.
Brilliant.
