The word al-mra'tu (i.e., woman) in Arabic refers to the female version of the male; its pronunciation is: imra'tu or marah that does not have plural word for it (in Arabic); instead the word nisa' or niswa is used. She is the creation that Allaah, the Mighty and Sublime, brought into existence as a partner for man throughout his life. She was created originally from man in order to be a more profound in symmetry and more binding in their bond and nearness to one another; in addition, to attain sincere affection and mercy between each other in the most splendid garment and most beautiful appearance. Allah, the Exalted, says,
"O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allaah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allaah is Ever an All-Watcher over you." [Soorah an-Nisaa 4:1]
And He, the Exalted, says,
"And Allaah has made for you wives of your kind, and has made for you, from your wives, sons and grandsons, and has bestowed on you good provision. Do they then believe in false deities and deny the Favour of Allaah (by not worshiping Allaah Alone)." [Soorah an-Nahl 16:72]
These verses bespeaks that Hawwa, the wife of Aadam ('Alayhi salaam) was created from him; then Allaah, the Glorified, spread through them countless men and women by way of copulating which resulted in pregnancy and procreation.”
