It has been over three hundred years since the curse, and Mystic Ridge... or rather Autumn Ridge... celebrates that triumphant night with a yearly festivity held by the teens of Events Club. Tourists come from all over to witness the reenactment of a historic moment that eternalized the island’s fall season. But, of course, not all believe the hype to be real. To humans, this activity is merely a fun, spooky Halloween theme.
Speaking of witches and humans, though…
Just outside of the small island’s lone little town, on a cliff edge, is Grimwood land. Gloomy Grimwood land. Nothing grows here. The forest trees to this end are lifeless. All is black and dreary and dead. Even more, no one, other than ghosts and demons, resides in the towering gothic manor with the menacing black iron gate. It has been this way since Samhain 1692, when the place became considered the most haunted in the world. Tourists aren’t even permitted. This place is view from a distance.
Rather ridiculous, to be honest. Haunted? Grimwood land? I think I would know if my home were haunted. Yes, we have a couple ghosts in our cemetery, but that doesn’t mean haunted. Definitely not most haunted.
Anyway, since you are probably wondering by now, my name is Danielle Grimwood. I am a witch. Not going to tell you what kind of witch. I am also adopted. And this is the story of how I am cursed.”
