Eva discovers she possesses a life-changing skill. It seems like a gift, but it might be a curse.
After losing her mother when she was young and never knowing her father, Eva believes she's better off alone. More comfortable with animals than people, she volunteers at the local shelter in her small New England town. When the animals seem to miraculously recover from illnesses and injury, she learns, through the charismatic veterinarian, Michael, they are doing so because of her. When she holds an animal, she connects deeply with it, sinking into a place in her mind of warm dark energy, almost vibration. It’s blissful, peaceful, like being under water.
Adjusting to the revelation of her gift takes some doing. When the healing power extends to human beings, the challenges build. She’s pressured from all sides: by her newly discovered father; by the new dysfunctional family she doesn't know; by Michael, who wants love and commitment. And ultimately by the endless stream of pushy media, who stalk her day and night, raining down questions and accusations.
Then the death threats start.
